Library Liaison, Patti Bateman

Patti BatemanPatti is the Director of Library & Cultural Services for the City of Aurora and an Aurora Public Library employee since 1977. Her responsibilities include Library Division operations, the Fox Theatre, the Aurora History Museum, Art In Public Places and the City’s music, dance, pottery and all visual arts classes and activities.  Her passion is clearly quality customer service to the citizens of Aurora in all aspects of her department, making it the best possible within the parameters of available resources.

Patti originally hails from Texas, graduated from C.U. – Boulder, and got her M.L.S. from the University of Denver.  She was a Colorado Library Association President, Chair of the vital and active state’s Legislative Committee for the Colorado Association of Libraries for several years, and has been very active many other ways in the statewide Colorado Association of Libraries (CAL), Colorado’s statewide professional library organization. As such, Patti has been honored several times – once as Colorado’s Librarian of the Year and three times with the CAL President’s Award for extraordinary service.  Currently, she enjoys the comradery and service aspects of Rotary and AAUW.

In her ‘spare’ time, Patti and her husband Kirk share their home with 5 hyper-active (!) Italian Greyhounds. The two of them enjoy driving the scenic highways of Colorado, traveling to interesting places, museums, theater, friends, and of course, reading!!.
