Royal Maxwell is a native Coloradoan, having been born in Denver and also lived in Fort Collins, Loveland, Estes Park, Craig and Golden. He moved from there to Aurora where he has lived for the past twenty nine years.
He was the college librarian during his Junior and Senior years. He has been the treasurer of two different churches and treasurer of two different fraternal bodies for a total of more than sixteen years of experience. He was the Service Superintendent for General Binding Corporation in Denver for sixteen years. He was responsible for their equipment in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah. When he took over the department in Denver it was rated 37 out of 37 GBC Branch offices. It took a few years but in 1985 the Denver Branch was rated number one in the world.
He retired as office manager for American Plaque and Laminating Company in 2001. In 2003 he lost his wife to cancer and since that time he has served in various volunteer positions including Arapahoe/Douglas Works – the County unemployment office, where he taught people how to get jobs.
