But at the Book Outlet at 2243 S. Peoria St., it’s an everyday reality.

“It’s more important to give people a bargain than to put (a book) on the shelf for $14,” said Kathy Forsman, volunteer and publicity chair for the Friends of the Aurora Public Library.

The nonprofit organization donates money raised from the Book Outlet to the financially beleaguered Aurora Public Library system and is celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, with the goal of attracting new clientele through innovative events.

Since 1990, the Book Outlet has donated more than $630,000 to the city’s libraries.
