The Friends of the Aurora Public Library will be joining The Aurora Public Library and the Aurora History Museum to “wrap up” 2012’s Power of One program with a special program in collaboration with Hearts Across the Miles; a non-profit organization that sends care packages to our deployed soldiers. Throughout October and November, we will be actively collecting donations for these care packages via drop-boxes at each of the branches of the Aurora Public Library and at the Friends Book Outlet. The drop boxes will have a wish list from the troops of much needed items like toiletries, snacks, books, etc. These donations will be used on Sunday, November 18 as we host a community-wide packing party, boxing up all donations and getting them ready for shipment…our hope is that these boxes will arrive overseas in time for the holiday season.
