In an effort to increase awareness in our community about the great efforts of the Friends of the Aurora Public Library, they will be represented at the upcoming GREEN REVOLUTION on Saturday, April 20th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 East Alameda Parkway.  ADMISSION IS FREE.

The Green Revolution, an eco-friendly, minimal carbon footprint free exhibit created by the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, and distributed by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES), will be on display through June at the Aurora History Museum. The Museum has partnered with various City of Aurora departments including Aurora Water, the Morrison Nature Center, Planning & Development Services, Publics Works and Aurora Public Library for thought-provoking and motivating displays on the environment. Some of the exhibits include:

  • Learn about the Friends of the Aurora  Public Library, their mission, The Book Outlet, membership, volunteer opportunities and how you can donate your books and other media
  • Hear about the new Aurora/I-225 RTD FasTracks line
  • Understand conservation at home with a display on water meters and an ultra-high efficiency Stealth Toilet from Niagara Conservation (uses just 0.8gal/flush)
  • Learn about community gardens and discover how to create your own Xeriscaping garden at home
  • See why it is important not to feed the wildlife brought to you by the Morrison Nature Center
  • Pick up a Bike & Trail map and explore the trail system in Aurora

In addition, the Friends of the Aurora Public Library will be represented at the upcoming Heather Gardens Community Resource Fair.  This FREE event will be held on Thursday, April 25th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Heather Gardens Clubhouse at 2888 S. Heather Gardens Way.  Many community businesses will be represented there to provide you with information about their products and services.  There will be door prizes and lots of fun.  This event is open to the public – you don’t have to live in Heather Gardens to attend.  Come and visit the Friends of the Aurora Public Library to learn more about us and how you can help support the Aurora Public Libraries.
