Dear Friends’ Members –
As we all begin to enjoy a beautiful Colorado summer, we would like to take this opportunity to say a huge “Thank You” to all of you. Your continued membership, support, donations and patronage of our award-winning used bookstore, The Book Outlet, help us to accomplish our important mission of providing direct financial donations to support the programs and services of our Aurora Public Libraries! We couldn’t accomplish any of it without you and all of our fabulous, hard-working volunteers!
In our ongoing efforts to find new and creative ways to enhance our ability to support the Aurora Public Libraries, the Board of Directors of the Friends has determined that an opportunity exists for us to sell some of our more unique books through online book sales. We have spent over a year researching, debating and discussing this project. We have found that as an all-volunteer organization, we don’t have the capacity or knowledge to accomplish this. Therefore, we have prepared a Request for Proposal (RFP) which seeks qualified book dealers to assist us with pursuing this potential additional revenue for those books of special interest to collectors as well as those that we simply can’t price at their value in The Book Outlet. This initiative also opens up our unique finds to the world of book lovers that don’t live in our service area.
If you or someone you know is interested in submitting a proposal to assist the Friends with this initiative, please contact our volunteer, Kathy Forsman at [email protected] for a copy of the RFP. Responses must be submitted by July 15, 2014.
As always, we will continue to provide our community of readers with a wide selection of high quality, gently used books and other media at incredibly low prices in a vibrant, well-organized atmosphere with knowledgeable, enthusiastic volunteers at The Book Outlet – just as we have for over 25 years.
Also, keep an eye out for more special activities all throughout the summer! Just to give you an idea – watch for details on the upcoming Macy’s Shop for a Cause event; we will be participating in KidSpree at the Aurora Municipal Center on Saturday, June 7th from 10 am to 6 pm; we will be represented at the annual Northern Colorado Military Retiree Appreciation Day on Saturday, June 14th at Buckley Air Force Base; look for us on Saturday, June 28th from 10 am to 8 pm at the Aurora Arts Festival at Fletcher Plaza – 9898 East Colfax Avenue!
