Diane Danielson is the Friends Secretary.  Diane’s love of libraries and reading began when she was three years old. That year, her family moved into a house in NJ, across the street from a majestic Carnegie Library, built in 1914.  Since then, she have sought out libraries, wherever she has lived, and have always been happiest surrounded by books.

After high school, Diane returned to Colorado, where she was born (making her a 4th generation Denverite), to attend CU Boulder and major in English (what else?). While a student, she enjoyed working in Norlin Library’s AV/Reserve Dept, training students on the use of high tech equipment such as phonographs, cassette players and film projectors.

Diane’s business experience includes work in the Credit Dept of Celestial Seasonings, Business Manager at the Rocky Mountain Art Conservation Center at DU and Payroll Coordinator at Frontier Oil.  When Frontier was acquired by a large Texas oil company, four years ago, she seized the opportunity to take classes in Spanish and blogging.  She also opened a collectibles store, on Etsy, fueled by a lifetime addiction to garage sales, flea markets and thrift stores.  And, of course, began volunteering at the Friends bookstore.  Diane enjoys every aspect of this great organization, including cashier work, book sorting/shelving and taking minutes at the board meetings. “It’s always a joy to be around books and people who love reading”.

Diane has been living in Aurora, with her wonderful husband, Richard, for about 30 years.  They share an overflowing house with  two dogs, Buddy and Lucy (and occasionally more, if they happen to be fostering for the Boston Terrier Rescue group).  Vacations are usually spent visiting their son, and his family, in Jacksonville, FL or her father and sisters in Mountain Lakes, NJ.
